Anniversary Trip

We planned a 4-day weekend "up north" to celebrate our 39th anniversary. It turned out to be a great trip with plenty of time for R&R. After taking Nick to Chuck E. Cheese (see Nick's BD story) for his BD, we headed north to Soaring Eagle Casino where we spent the night. We had a great dinner at Water Lily Restaurant within the casino, then went into the casino to play video poker. We didn't play all that long. Ret ended up winning a little (actually a lot) and David lost a little. Usually, it's the other way around.

On Thursday, we headed toward Traverse City where we met up with our friends and old neighbors, Jim and Shelly Rybarsyk who live on Elk Lake. It was a great day, full of conversation and laughs. We had lunch in Traverse City, visited a few wineries and then had a wonderful dinner at Jim and Shelly's. When you catch up with old friends, it's like we've never been apart -- always easy.

On Friday, we headed north to Ellsworth to stay at House on the Hill for a couple of nights. This is a bed and breakfast place we discovered several years ago. It is located about .5 mile from two great restaurants - Rowe Inn and Tapawingo. We had dinner at each of these restaurants, did a little shopping in Charlevoix and mostly had R&R time. There is a nice hammock here that had my name on it! Each evening at 5:30, the guests gather on the front porch for some wine and conversation. It's a great way to meet new people. We headed for home on Sunday after breakfast.
