We haven't had an update posted for several days. That's not to say that nothing is being done on the house project. My next post will have some of the inside work (should I say destruction/reconstruction?) that has been done so far. The photos posted today show mostly cement work on the porches. Mike and Malcom had to rent an auger to dig through our very hard clay soil. They are digging the holes, then the poured concrete in them. These will become the bases for our posts holding up the pergola.

Brothers Mike and Malcom are our concrete/brick gurus. They said to tell you they are "Gringos".

The brickwork around the porch was completed and the concrete poured. It is now dry and we can walk on it. Good thing since the only entry available to us today is the front door (garage floor being taken out today).

Notice the brickwork around the bottom.

The porch on the rear of the house is now completed except for the posts. The concrete has been poured and dried and we can now walk on it. They did a great job on the brickwork around the porch too.

We decided to rent a pod to hold our precious garage contents while the floor of the garage is taken out and replaced by new, lovely concrete.

These are the roots that caused my "phall" the other night as I went out to turn off the water. It was dark and I forgot the roots were there to "trip me up". My first thought: I've fallen and I can't get up! I crawled to the wall, got up, and realized nothing was broken -- just battered, bruised and dirty. Hopefully, those roots will soon be gone, replaced by a lovely sidewalk.
