On June 30, 2008, our long-awaited house renovation/addition began. Sometimes it seems like things are going slowly and sometimes it seems like they are going very quickly (when we have to pay the bills?). Anyway, here are some photos of our progress so far.
Last picture of the deck before it is demolished.

All David's hard work demolished in a heart beat!

Only the posts left to take out. The front loader picked them out like toothpicks!

Dirt placed over sidewalk so heavy equipment, including cement truck, won't break it.

Footings poured for sunroom and dining room.

The front of the house will undergo changes too.

Front of house is prepped for a new porch and roof.

Nick wanted to see what the cement felt like on his feet.

Siding taken off front of garage for addition.

Crawl space holes for the sunroom and dining room.

Crawl space for the new bathroom.
The workers walk across these floor joists without hesitation.

The floor goes down on the foundation. It's beginning to take shape!
A lot of progress for a Monday.
Windows removed for remodeling.
Blocks are in place and pea gravel is down.
WOW - WALLS!
Ret sitting in the east window of the sunroom. The opening of the doorwall on the left is in the dining room and leads to the covered porch. The opening on the right is on the east side and will lead to our new terrace.

This is the east wall of the dining room. There will be a doorwall in the opening. You can see the flooring of the new bathroom in the background.

The south wall of the sunroom will be the north wall of the expanded family room. There will be a doorwall in the large opening. The window will be over my desk.

David couldn't wait to have a glass of wine in the new sunroom.

David is standing in the new sunroom.

That rusty metal bin will be on our driveway for 3 months!
